Cowboys Head To Vegas For NCAA Regional Action

LAS VEGAS – Oklahoma State's men's golf team will look to secure its 75th NCAA Championship appearance in 76 tries this week when it begins play at the NCAA Las Vegas Regional on Monday.
The Cowboys will be one of 14 teams in action at Bear's Best. OSU enters play as the No. 4 seed with Arizona State serving as the top seed, Stanford is No. 2 and Virginia is the No. 3 seed. Regional action will consist of 54 holes over three days with play getting underway on Monday.
The par-72, 7,217-yard layout is one of six regional sites that will see the top five teams and the low individual not on those teams advance to the NCAA Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. The finals are slated for May 26-31.
Head coach Alan Bratton's lineup will consist of fifth years Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen and Leo Oyo, senior Hazen Newman and juniors Jonas Baumgartner and Bo Jin. Senior Dillon Stewart will make the trip as the squad's substitute.
OSU will begin its first round at 8:00 a.m. (PST) and will be grouped with Northwestern and East Tennessee State.
The Cowboys have won six consecutive regional titles after their triumph last season at the NCAA Columbus Regional at the Scarlet Course. The Pokes have also captured seven regional titles in eight tries under the guidance of Bratton.
Overall, OSU's 16 regional titles are tops in the country and seven more than the second-best total.
Individually, Eugenio Chacarra wrapped up medalist honors at last year's regional, becoming the 12th Cowboy to do so.
