STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State offensive coordinator and associate head coach Kasey Dunn was inducted into the Idaho Athletic Hall of Fame Saturday night during a banquet at the Coeur d'Alene Resort in Idaho.
Dunn, who was also inducted into the University of Idaho Athletics Hall of Fame in 2007, is entering his 13th season at Oklahoma State. He is the longest consecutively serving OSU football assistant coach since 1962 and he has served as OSU's offense coordinator since 2020.
A 1992 University of Idaho graduate, Dunn was a standout receiver for the Vandals from 1987-91, when he was a three-time All-American who ended his career with school records in receptions (268) and receiving yards (3,847) and was second in touchdowns (25).
At the end of his career, his reception total and receiving yards total ranked second all-time in the Football Championship Subdivision, trailing only Jerry Rice.
Dunn, who arrived at UI after a prep career at North Kitsap High School in Washington, led the nation in both receptions per game (8.0 avg.) and receiving yards per game (105.8 avg.) as a junior in 1990. He ranked No. 3 nationally with 85 catches as a senior. The Vandals claimed three Big Sky Conference titles during his playing career and went 24-12 overall.
Dunn went on to play professionally with British Columbia (1992) and Edmonton (1993) of the Canadian Football League and with Houston (1992) in the NFL. He then started a successful coaching career with stops at Idaho (1993 and 1995), San Diego (1994), New Mexico (1996-97), the Denver Broncos (1997), Washington State (1998-2002), TCU (2003), Arizona (2004-06), Baylor (2007), the Seattle Seahawks (2008-09) and Southern Miss (2010) before coming to Stillwater.
In his 12 seasons with the Cowboys, his receivers have earned All-Big 12 honors 12 times and OSU has had at least one All-Big 12 receiver in all but two of Dunn's years on staff. He was also recognized as the best receivers coach in college football in 2017, when he was honored by both 247Sports and FootballScoop as the Wide Receivers Coach of the Year.
Dunn coached both Justin Blackmon and James Washington on their way winning Biletnikoff Awards and unanimous All-America honors at OSU, and also coached Tylan Wallace on his way to being an All-American and finalist for the same award.
Most recently, Dunn's 2022 passing offense finished with its highest national ranking since 2018 and produced the Big 12 individual leader in both total offense and passing yards per game.
The Cowboys have won at least 10 games six times with Dunn on staff and have ranked in the FBS top 10 in scoring offense three times.
Seven of Dunn's 12 seasons at OSU rank among the top 10 in school history for scoring offense, total offense, passing offense and passing touchdowns. He has also coached eight 1,000-yard receivers in his 12 years in Stillwater.
Dunn and his wife, Janelle, have two daughters, Kayla and Lauren.
