Two Cowboys On Golden Spikes Award List

CARY, N.C. – Oklahoma State's Nolan McLean and Nolan Schubart are on the 2023 Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List.
The Cowboy duo is among 45 players from the high school and college baseball ranks on the list, and OSU is one of 10 schools to have multiple players on that list. The Golden Spikes Award is presented annually to the nation's top amateur baseball player.
McLean has again cemented himself as one of the nation's top two-way threats. In 26 games, the junior outfielder is hitting .292 with a team-high eight home runs to go along with 25 RBIs and a .429 on-base percentage.
On the mound, the right-hander is OSU's closer and has a 1-1 record with six saves in nine appearances.
McLean, who ranks ninth nationally in saves and two behind the leader, owns a 1.35 ERA and has recorded 17 strikeouts in 13 1/3 innings of work.
A freshman, Schubart has established himself as one of the Big 12's top hitters, ranking in the top five in the conference in nine offensive categories.
The Michigan native has reached base safely in 20 consecutive games and ranks third in the league with a .389 batting average, with his eight homers, .747 slugging percentage and .524 on-base percentage also placing him third.
Schubart is fifth in the conference in doubles (10), RBIs (33) and total bases (71).
