OSU Distance Squad Heads to Historic Penn Relays, Sprinters Travel to Lubbock
April 27, 2023 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track, Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State track & field splits up once again with two groups traveling to Philadelphia and Lubbock, Texas for the Penn Relays and Corky/Crofoot Shootout.
At the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, the national title-winning Distance Medley Relay squad will target the outdoor world record Friday after setting the unofficial indoor world record in February. The likely squad of Fouad Messaoudi, DJ McArthur, Mehdi Yanouri and Ryan Schoppe will compete in the Championship of America DMR at 1:05 p.m. CT.
The Cowgirls will run in the Championship of America DMR with likely the same squad that placed sixth overall at the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships last month. All-Americans Billah Jepkirui, Tamara Woodley, Gabija Galvydyte and Taylor Roe will look to take down a loaded collegiate field in Pennsylvania.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls will also come back Saturday at the Penn Relays to run the men's and women's 4x800, as well as the men's 4xMile and women's 4x1,500 Meter Relays.
At the Corky/Crofoot Shootout in Lubbock, Texas, the sprint and jump groups will look to improve upon several impressive marks already laid down so far this season. Both 4x400 Meter Relay squads return to the track after seemingly hitting their strides at the past few meets.
The entirety of the Penn Relays will be streamed on FloTrack with live results found here. Action in Lubbock for OSU kicks off at 3:00 p.m. CT and wraps up with the 4x400 Relays at 7:20 p.m. CT with results found on PT Timing.
