STILLWATER – Oklahoma State led all Big 12 men's basketball teams with a program-record seven selections to the Winter Academic All-Big 12 team that was announced today.
The previous OSU men's basketball record for Academic All-Big 12 selections in a single season was five in 2021, also under head coach Mike Boynton.
OSU's representatives on the 2023 first team were Kalib Boone, Bernard Kouma, Carson Sager and Weston Church. Avery Anderson, Tyreek Smith and Bryce Thompson were second-team selections.
With this year's recognition, Boone and Anderson become three-time Academic All-Big 12 selections, as both were first-team honorees in 2021 and 2022. Kouma is now a two-time honoree having previously earned first-team honors in 2022.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.
