Cowgirl Tennis To Be Fourth Seed At Big 12 Championships

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's women's tennis team (14-6, 7-2) will enter the 2022 Big 12 Championship in Lawrence, Kan. as the No. 4 seed.
This year's championship will be contested at Kansas' Jayhawk Tennis Center in Lawrence, from April 20 to April 23.
"We are excited for this weekend," head coach Chris Young said. "This team has consistently prepared well throughout the season, and I believe our best tennis is yet to come."
Three Cowgirls are represented in the ITA Division I women's tennis rankings entering the tournament. Alana Wolfberg serves as OSU's lone ranked singles competitor at No. 112 and earned Big 12 Player of the Week honors (April 4). OSU's top doubles' tandem of Ayumi Miyamoto and Raquel Gonzalez are ranked No. 14, their highest ranking this season.
Additionally, two Cowgirls enter the tournament undefeated in Big 12 singles competition. Sofia Rojas leads the league with eight singles victories, while Miyamoto has the third most with six wins.
OSU opened conference play with four undefeated matches, including a 4-3 win over No. 12 Texas in the conference opening weekend. The Cowgirls finished the regular season on a high note, with sweeps against West Virginia and No. 22 Kansas.
In total, five of OSU's conference victories came against ranked opponents.
Other seeds on the women's side are as follows: No. 1 Texas, No. 2 Oklahoma, No. 3 Iowa State, No. 5 Texas Tech, No. 6 Kansas, No. 7 Baylor, No. 8 TCU, No. 9 West Virginia and No. 10 Kansas State.
The Cowgirls will begin the event in the quarterfinals on Friday at 3 p.m. CT against Texas Tech.
