PALO ALTO, Calif. – Oklahoma State track & field wrapped up a successful first multi-meet weekend of the outdoor season at the Stanford Invitational and Texas Relays in Palo Alto, Calif., and Austin, Texas, respectively.
OSU's middle-distance runners highlighted the final day at the Stanford Invitational, as several athletes tabbed personal bests in the 800 Meters.
Billah Jepkirui followed up her impressive performance Friday with another impressive mark as she notched the fastest time for OSU in the 800. Jepkirui crossed the finish line in 2:04.92, good enough to win her heat and earn third place overall in the event. In her first 800 Meter race in a Cowgirl uniform, she landed in the top 10 of OSU's all-time leaderboard. She concludes her first outdoor meet as a Cowgirl with two trips to the podium, including a victory in Friday's 1,500 Meters, entering OSU's top 10 fastest times in both events.
Alongside Jepkirui, several other Cowgirl newcomers made their outdoor 800 debuts, including Cameron McConnell, who came away with a heat victory and a personal-best time of 2:09.72.
On the men's side, Alex Stitt captured another personal best, with his 800 Meter time of 1:50.04 and an eighth-place overall finish in the event. Stitt also finished the 1,500 Meters race on Friday with an eighth-place finish.
At the Texas Relays, Pole Vaulter Ariadni Adamopoulou started her outdoor season with a 4.15-meter vault. Adamopoulou, OSU's record holder in the event, would still land at No. 2 on the leaderboard and finished tenth overall.
