Oklahoma State’s Kilfoyl, Wark Sweep Big 12 Softball Weekly Awards
March 07, 2023 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State softball has collected both Big 12 Conference weekly awards as Lexi Kilfoyl earned Pitcher of the Week honors and Micaela Wark has been named Player of the Week, the conference announced today.
OSU is the first team to sweep Big 12 softball's weekly awards this season. The Pokes' sweep also marks their first since April 26, 2022, when Miranda Elish and Julia Cottrill were named Pitcher of the Week and Player of the Week, respectively.
Kilfoyl recorded the Cowgirls' first no-hitter of 2023 in a complete game win over Maine on March 3. The senior right-handed pitcher posted the third solo no-hitter of her career in a 9-0 victory over the Black Bears, allowing only two walks and striking out 11.
Along with the no-no, Kilfoyl got the nod in Oklahoma State's fifth and final game of its 2023 home opener against South Dakota State on March 5. She collected her second win of the weekend and her fourth of the season after 4.0 innings of work in which she kept the Jackrabbits scoreless and allowed only one hit and one walk.
On the weekend, Kilfoyl maintained a 0.00 ERA (tied-first in Big 12), posted two shutout victories (tied-second in Big 12 in wins; tied-first in shutouts), and kept opposing hitters to a .036 batting average (second in Big 12).
Redshirt freshman Wark led the Big 12 Conference and the Cowgirls in batting average in week four, posting a 9-for-13 (.692) showing at the plate in a five-game weekend; nine hits also tied her for first in the Big 12 in week four.
Along with top weekly ranks in batting average and hits, Wark also tallied a .750 on-base percentage (firs in Big 12), a 1.000 slugging percentage (fifth in Big 12), nine RBI (first in Big 12) and three stolen bases (first in Big 12).
She also had a perfect weekend at first base, recording 30 putouts and zero errors for a 1.000 fielding percentage.
The Cowgirls are back in action Friday, March 10, as they welcome No. 5/6 Florida State to Stillwater for a top-five matchup. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. CT and all three games over the course of the weekend will be streamed on ESPN+.
