OSU Outdoor Track & Field Concludes First Week of Action at Baylor Invitational
March 25, 2023 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
WACO, Texas – Oklahoma State outdoor track & field wrapped up its first full weekend at the Baylor Invitational on Saturday with veterans and freshman alike taking the stage.
New faces took center stage on Saturday, highlighted by Nate Nuthman's performance in the Javelin Throw. Nuthman's OSU debut proved to be a memorable one, after launching the Javelin 55.01 Meters on his third attempt. His throw etched his name into the program record books with the second-farthest New Rule Javelin throw in OSU history, behind Max Braht's 58.61-meter toss at the Sooner Invitational in 2021.
Rachel Neaves continued her impressive start to her Cowgirl career in the Shot Put event Saturday. Her 14.57-meter hurl was the fifth-longest in program history and a four-foot personal best. Hannah Bradford joined Neaves in the Shot Put and put forth a 13.62-meter toss. For Bradford, she is now No. 9 for OSU in the outdoor Shot Put leaderboard. Neaves and Bradford are the first to break the top 10 in the Shot Put leaderboard since 2017.
Pole Vaulter Sarah Stair made her outdoor season debut in impressive fashion after she vaulted 3.85 Meters, good enough for second place in the event. Her personal-best performance bumped her into fourth all-time for OSU. Stair has become a consistent 3.8-meter minimum vaulter since the start of indoor season, highlighting an offseason of progress leading to her new best.
Cowgirl Multi-Event athlete Olivija Vaitaityte started her day competing in the Javelin event, finishing in fourth with a 40.82-meter throw. She proceeded to compete in the 400 Meter Dash for the first time in her career, crossing the finish line in 59.62 seconds.
For the Cowboys, Philip Frank and Crayton Shaw took the field again to participate in the Pole Vault and 400 Meter Dash. Frank and Shaw vaulted 4.25 Meters and 4.50 Meters, respectively. In the 400 Meters, Frank crossed the finish line in 50.57 seconds, while Shaw competed in the race for the first time in his career, finishing in 53.05 seconds.
Every athlete that competed for OSU at the Baylor Invitational completed a personal best in at least one event, with Bradford also taking home two event victories in the Hammer and Discus Throws, respectively.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls will be back in action next week for a pair of high-profile meets in the Stanford Invitational and Texas Relays from March 30-April 1.
