Cowgirl Softball Nabs Win Over North Texas, 2-0

STILLWATER – A combined shutout from Lexi Kilfoyl, Kyra Aycock and Kelly Maxwell led the No. 2 Oklahoma State softball team to a 2-0 win over North Texas at Cowgirl Stadium Wednesday evening.
With the win, OSU improved to 26-2 and UNT fell to 19-10.
Kilfoyl improved to 7-1 with 4.0 scoreless innings and four strikeouts.
OSU continued its trend of scoring first as Kiley Naomi's RBI double brought home Rachel Becker to put the Cowgirls on the board in the first inning. It marked the 21st time this season the Pokes have struck first, including the fifth game in a row.
The Cowgirls extended their advantage in the fourth inning following an RBI single from Taylor Tuck, who notched her sixth RBI of the season with the knock.
After the four scoreless innings from Kilfoyl, Aycock moved into the circle for relief. Continuing her impressive trend, the righty went 2.0 scoreless innings with only one hit given up.
All-American Kelly Maxwell closed out the game for the Pokes, earning her fourth save of the season after coming on in the seventh inning. The southpaw struck out two batters in her one inning of work.
Today's combined shutout marked the fourth time in five games the Cowgirls have pitched a shutout and is the 13th shutout of the season.
On deck for OSU, the Cowgirls open Big 12 play against No. 20/22 Baylor in Stillwater this weekend. The first contest of the weekend is set for 6 p.m. CT Friday evening on ESPN+ and The Varsity Network.
