Cowboys Eighth After Day One At Watersound

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. — Oklahoma State's men's golf team opened play at the Watersound Invitational on Sunday with a 292 team total to stand in eighth place at Shark's Tooth Golf Course.
The Cowboys' 4-over tally put them two shots out of seventh place held by Mississippi State. Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech each fired 9-under 279s to share the lead at the par-72, 7,246-yard layout.
North Carolina State's Michael LaSasso carded an opening 65 to hold a one-shot lead over the field in the individual race.
OSU's Bo Jin finished the day in the top 10, sharing ninth place after signing for a 3-under 69. The junior opened with three consecutive pars before carding bogeys at the fourth and eighth to stand at 2-over par with 10 holes remaining. After carding a birdie at the ninth to turn in 1-over 37, Jin caught fire on his inward nine. He moved under par with birdies at the 12th and 13th before adding two more at the 16th and 18th to come home in 4-under 32.
Fifth year Leo Oyo carded a 73 to stand in a tie for 33rd place, while classmate Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen posted a 74 to share 36th place.
Junior Jonas Baumgartner opened with a 76 to stand in a tie for 47th place.
Sophomore Jordan Wilson's 80 tied him for 65th place.
Senior Dillon Stewart is competing individually and carded a 74 to open play.
The Cowboys will begin their second round tomorrow at 9:10 a.m. (EST) and will be grouped with Florida State and Georgia Tech.
