Three OSU Athletes Set to Compete in European Cross Country Championships
December 08, 2023 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Three Oklahoma State distance athletes will be competing at the 2023 European Cross Country Championships Sunday in Brussels, Belgium.
All-American middle-distance runner Gabija Galvydyte is making her cross country debut for her home nation of Lithuania after earning All-Big 12 and All-Region honors during the 2023 cross country season for OSU. Galvydyte's 48th-place finish at the national meet helped the Cowgirls place third overall, which was the highest in program history. For Lithuania, she is a seven-time national champion across multiple events and qualified for the 2023 World Athletics Championships in the 800 Meters.
On the men's side, Adisu Guadie is once again representing his home country of Israel on the grass in the senior men's race this weekend after placing sixth at last year's U23 European Cross Country Championships. Guadie was a key member of OSU's national championship squad, placing 50th at the national meet and fifth at the regional meet to help the Cowboys qualify for NCAAs.
In the U20 race, Cowboy signee Henry Dover will be racing for Great Britain as they look to defend their title from last year. Current Cowboy Jacob Deacon was a member of last year's squad that took gold for GBR.
The schedule for Sunday's races are as follows (CT):
U20 Men's 5K – 5:50 a.m.
Senior Women's 9K – 7:35 a.m.
Senior Men's 9K – 8:15 a.m.
