SAN DIEGO, Calif. – OSU's Ange Oby Kajuru claimed her spot in the ITA Fall National Championships singles and doubles quarterfinals, partnering with Cowgirl teammate Anastasiya Komar on Thursday.
The day began with singles action, where Kajuru, the third seed, took down Salma Djoubri of Lynn University, 7-6 (7-1), 6-2. Komar's run in the singles draw came to an end, falling to Vanderbilt's Celia-Belle Mohr, 6-4, 6-4.
In doubles, the Cowgirl duo cruised to a 6-1 opening-set win before the Keiser University pair of Violet Apisah and Vanja Vidanovic answered with a 6-1 win of their own in the second set. Kajuru and Komar would prevail, however, in a third-set tiebreaker by a score of 10-3.
Play will continue Friday from San Diego, with Kajuru slated to face Hannah Viller Moeller from Cal in the singles quarterfinals at noon CT. Later in the day, Kajuru and Komar will take on Christina Hand and Justine Leong from Northwestern, with a start time still to be determined.
