Cameron Epps Named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State safety Cameron Epps was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week Monday for his performance in OSU's 29-21 win over Kansas State Friday.
In his second start, Epps recorded the first two interceptions of his career, two more pass breakups and five tackles. His first interception came in OSU territory on Kansas State's second drive of the game. His second came on a third down play with less than 45 seconds remaining in the first half, as he cut off an out route and returned it down the sideline 35 yards to give the Cowboys a 20-7 lead entering the break. His final pass breakup came in OSU territory on Kansas State's final possession of the game to help lock up OSU's 29-21 victory.
A redshirt freshman from St. Louis, Missouri, Epps is now the only FBS freshman with a pick-six against a Power Five team this season.
His performance also made him the first Big 12 player to record multiple interceptions in a conference matchup since OSU All-American Jason Taylor II recorded two against Texas in 2022 and the first Big 12 freshman to record multiple interceptions in a conference match since TCU's Ar'Darius Washington recorded two against West Virginia in 2019.
As it pertains to OSU, he is the first Cowboy freshman with two interceptions in a game since Shaun Lewis vs. Oklahoma in 2010, the first OSU freshman with a pick-six since Ramon Richards at Kansas State inn 2014, the first OSU player with two interceptions and a pick-six since Chad Whitener vs. TCU in 2015 and the first OSU player with two interceptions in a half since A.J. Green at West Virginia in 2017.
Epps and the Cowboys return to action Saturday, hosting No. 23 Kansas at 2:30 p.m. CT at Boone Pickens Stadium.
