Cowboys Close Out Fall At Big 12 Match Play

HOCKLEY, Texas – Oklahoma State's men's golf team will wrap up the fall portion of its schedule this week when it returns to Texas to compete at the Big 12 Match Play Tournament at Houston Oaks.
The Cowboys' starting five will consist of senior Jonas Baumgartner, sophomore John Wild and freshmen Johnnie Clark, Gaven Lane and Preston Stout.
The Cowboys will be the No. 5 seed and will compete in Pool D with Texas Tech, Kansas and West Virginia at the par-71, 7,007-yard layout. The event will be contested over three days with three pool-play sessions taking place over the first half of the tournament. Bracket play will begin the morning of day three with the final round taking place during the afternoon of the final day.
Monday morning's session will see the Cowboys take on Kansas with OSU set to face West Virginia on Monday afternoon. Head coach Alan Bratton's squad will close out pool play on Tuesday morning against Texas Tech.
Wednesday morning, bracket play will begin with the teams from Pool A facing off with those from Pool D according to finish from pool play results.
Play will conclude on Wednesday afternoon with the championship session to determine the final places for the 14-team field.
Morning sessions are scheduled for a 7:45 a.m. start, while afternoon play will begin at 1:15 p.m.
OSU will also have five individuals in action at the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational at Sand Creek Station in Newton, Kan.
Fifth years Hazen Newman, Dillon Stewart, Rayhan Thomas as well as senior Bo Jin and junior Jordan Wilson will all be in action at the par-72, 7,182-yard layout.
The 54-hole event will consist of 36 holes on Monday followed by Tuesday's final round. Play will get underway with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. both days.
