Cowgirls Ranked Sixth Halfway Through Fall Season
October 24, 2023 | Cowgirl Equestrian
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State Cowgirl equestrian has been ranked No. 6 in this week's National Collegiate Equestrian Association poll, the association announced Tuesday.
The Cowgirls are 1-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
The Cowgirls' strength of schedule has led to a tough start to the fall season. OSU's three losses have come from teams ranked within the top four, with two of the teams entering the respective meets undefeated.
OSU's losses to No. 1 TCU and No. 4 Texas A&M were both within one point, showing competitiveness against some of the strongest teams in the NCEA.
The Cowgirls have a combined seven MOPs so far this year. Jumping Seat rider Riley Hogan leads the way in that category with one in Fences and one in Flat. Hogan also leads the Cowgirls in points earned this season, with five (three from Fences and two from Flat). On the Western side, Maddie Fussell and Claire McDowall have three wins each in Horsemanship.
OSU is the second highest ranking member of the Big 12, in front of Baylor at eighth and behind TCU in first.
Next on the schedule for OSU will be a home test against Big 12 foe Fresno State. The Cowgirls have won six of the last seven meetings against the Bulldogs and lead the all-time series 13-3.
