Alex Hale Named Lou Groza Award “Star of the Week”

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State kicker Alex Hale was named a Lou Groza Award "Star of the Week" Tuesday for his performance in OSU's 29-21 win over Kansas State Friday night.

Hale, a senior from Point Frederick, New South Wales, Australia, matched OSU's program record with five field goals in the Cowboys' win. He also tied his career-long with a 53-yarder to go with connections from 43, 34, 31 and 25 yards.

He is the first Oklahoma State kicker with five field goals in a game since 2012 and is now three-for-three on attempts from longer than 50 yards this year. He added two PATs for a crucial 17-point performance to mark the most points scored by any FBS kicker for the week.

The performance has helped Hale make an early case for the Lou Groza Award, as he now leads the FBS with 2.2 made field goals per game and is 11-for-13 overall on the season.

Hale and the Cowboys return to action Saturday, hosting No. 23 Kansas at 2:30 p.m. CT at Boone Pickens stadium.
