January 26, 2023 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER — Oklahoma State indoor track & field returns to the track Friday and Saturday for the highly-anticipated Razorback Invitational that includes a host of top-25 teams in Fayetteville, AR.
The 18th-ranked Cowgirls bring most of the roster to Fayetteville and will see the return of national champion Taylor Roe in the indoor circuit for the first time since her national title in the 3,000 Meters last spring. Roe will be competing in the Distance Medley Relay on Friday night before coming back Saturday afternoon for the women's Mile.
The women's multis group of Bailey Golden and Olivija Vaitaityte open up in the Pentathlon for the first time this season with Maddie Meiner competing in her second Pentathlon of the season after scoring 4,024 points at the Kansas State Winter Invite in December. The trio currently hold the top three spots in program history in both the Pentathlon and Heptathlon and each qualified to the national championships last season.
First Team All-American Gabija Galvydyte makes her first appearance in the 800 Meters since her third-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in June. Galvydyte currently holds the No. 1 time in the nation in the indoor Mile with her time of 4:32.84 at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston.
On the men's side, the 20th-ranked Cowboys are also packing a punch with several key athletes returning to the track this weekend.
Superstar distance runner Alex Maier makes his return after setting the school record in the indoor 5,000 Meters in Boston with his time of 13:11.80, which puts him second overall in the NCAA. Maier will be competing in the men's Distance Medley Relay and the Mile as he looks to break more school records in the distance events.
Alongside Maier in the DMR will be Fouad Messaoudi, who will also be competing for the first time since setting his school record in the 3,000 Meters in Boston. Messaoudi currently sits third in the NCAA in the 3,000 Meters and will look to help the relay to an event victory against a stacked field.
The entirety of the Razorback Invitational will be streamed on SEC Network + and live results for the meet can be found here.
