Oklahoma State Track & Field Cracks Top 20 in First USTFCCCA Rankings

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State men's and women's indoor track & field each entered the top 20 in the first U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Rating Index, the organization announced today.

In the first edition of the rankings, the Cowgirls enter ranked No. 18 with the Cowboy close behind ranked No. 20.

On the women's side, Gabija Galvydyte ranks first in the NCAA in the Mile with her time of 4:32.84 set at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston earlier this season. In her first career indoor race, Natalie Cook's school-record time of 15:24.26 in the 5,000 Meters currently puts her fourth nationally.

In the field events, Maddie Meiner's Pentathlon score of 4,064 points ranks seventh overall ahead of the Razorback Invitational this weekend. Ariadni Adamopoulou cleared 4.23 meters in the Pole Vault at the Arkansas Invitational to put her No. 12 in the NCAA to round out the ranking scorers for the Cowgirls.

For the Cowboys, Alex Maier, Fouad Messaoudi and Isai Rodriguez each rank in the top 11 in their respective events. Maier currently holds the second-fastest 5,000 Meter time in the country with his 13:11.80 school record set at the Season Opener in Boston earlier this season. In the same race, Rodriguez clocked the 11^th-fastest time in the NCAA with his time of 13:25.84, which also ranks second in school history.

In the men's 3,000 Meters, Messaoudi ranks third nationally with his 7:44.26 school record set at the same meet in Boston.

The Cowboys and Cowgirls each return to the track Friday and Saturday at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, AR.
