IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State's Jordan Nytes and Mollie Breiner collected weekly awards from the Big 12 Conference for week six.
Nytes was named the Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week for the second consecutive week, while Breiner picked up Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors. Additionally, Nytes was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Women's Team of the Week.
Breiner and Nytes helped lead OSU to two wins on the opening weekend of conference play as the Cowgirls extended their winning streak to six games and are now 9-1-1 on the season.
A freshman, Nytes posted a shutout in both games as the Cowgirls won at Kansas and Kansas State, and she has now recorded a clean sheet in three consecutive games and has five on the season.
Against KU, Nytes racked up a career-high 12 saves, doubling her previous best, against a Jayhawk team that tallied 23 shots in the match.
Nytes has played 935 of a possible 990 minutes in goal for an OSU team that leads the Big 12 and ranks second nationally in shutouts with eight. The Cowgirls are also atop the league in goals allowed (4) and goals against average (0.36).
A native of Aurora, Colo., Nytes leads the Big 12 and ranks eighth nationally in goals against average (0.39) and also tops the league and is 10th nationally in save percentage (.895).
Breiner anchored the OSU defense's two shutouts in the Sunflower State as she saw 149 minutes of action and was part of a unit that faced 28 shots over the two games.
A junior from Broken Arrow, Okla., Breiner made a key defensive play late in the contest at Kansas State to help secure the Cowgirls' 1-0 victory.
