September 16, 2022 | Cowboy Football
Rashaun Woods joined Oklahoma State royalty when he was officially inducted in the Oklahoma State Hall of Honor on Friday.
OSU's all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, Woods is a part of the first class to be inducted since 2011. The star wideout was a two-time first-team All-American for the Cowboys in 2002 and 2003.
He posted 1,000-yard seasons in 2001 (80 catches for 1,023 yards and 10 touchdowns), 2002 (107 catches for 1,695 yards and 17 touchdowns) and 2003 (77 catches for 1,367 yards and 15 touchdowns). His 17 touchdown receptions in 2002 led the country, while he posted eight 100-yard receiving games during his best year in Stillwater.
Woods was the first player in Big Eight or Big 12 history to reach the 4,000-yard receiving mark, something only three players have done since, with one of them being fellow Cowboy James Washington.
The signature performance of Woods' career came when he set an NCAA record with an astounding seven touchdown receptions against SMU in 2003, breaking a 34-year-old record that still stands today.
Finishing his Oklahoma State career with 293 catches for 4,414 yards and 42 touchdowns from 2000-2003, Woods went on to be a first-round draft pick of the 49ers in 2004.
Woods will be inducted into this year's Oklahoma State Hall of Honor class, which also features legendary softball coach Sandy Fischer and All-Americans AD Franch (soccer), Andrea Riley (women's basketball) and Lindy Miller (men's golf).
The selection process began with a screening committee of OSU Athletics coaches and staff members that narrowed the list of eligible candidates to 50. That list was taken to a selection committee of people affiliated with but not employed by OSU Athletics. The selection committee voted for the final honorees.
