July 06, 2022 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER, Okla. – Three Oklahoma State student-athletes were honored on the 2022 Preseason All-Big 12 Football Team announced Wednesday, including quarterback Spencer Sanders, defensive end Collin Oliver and safety Jason Taylor II.
Sanders and Taylor are redshirt seniors entering their fifth year in the OSU, while Oliver is a true sophomore entering his second season in Stillwater.
The returning first team All-Big 12 quarterback after leading the conference in total offense and total offense per game in 2021, Sanders has 24 wins as OSU's starting quarterback and needs eight more to tie Mason Rudolph for the most wins as a starting quarterback in school history.
His 6,911 career passing yards total ranks among the top 10 of all returning Power Five players and his career passing yards total ranks as the second-most in school history for any player entering his senior season.
Taylor became one of the most impactful players on OSU's defense last year in his first season as a full-time starter, and he has made several highlight-reel, game-changing plays in his career. Outside of the defensive line, his 14 career starts rank as the next-most on the Cowboy defense entering 2022. He also ranks No. 5 among all active FBS players entering this season with three career non-offensive touchdowns.
Oliver put together one of the most impressive true freshman seasons in the nation and in Oklahoma State history in 2021, earning unanimous Big 12 Freshman Defensive Player of the Year honors and freshman All-America honors. He was also one of three national finalists for the 2021 FWAA Freshman of the Year Award after ranking No. 7 in the FBS and setting an OSU freshman record with 11.5 sacks.
Oklahoma State is scheduled to open the 2022 season September 1 when it faces Central Michigan at Boone Pickens Stadium, with kickoff set for 6 p.m. CT on FS1.
