Evers Named to Wuerffel Trophy Watch List

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State defensive tackle Brendon Evers is one of 115 FBS players on the watch list for the 2022 Wuerffel Trophy, it announced Thursday.
It is the first time that Evers, who was also OSU's "Big 12 Champions for Life" representative, has been on the watch list for the trophy, which is presented to college football players who serve others, celebrate their positive impact on society and inspire greater service in the world.
Evers, who is a multiple-year starter on the defensive line, has been active in the community and has focused on community service with adopted children in the Tulsa area. He has also volunteered with the Special Olympics.
On the field, Evers has started games in each of the past three seasons. His 22 career starts are tied for the second most on the defense and the third most on the team entering 2022, while his 48 career games played are the second-most on the roster.
He was one of two OSU defensive linemen to start all 14 games last season and finished the year with 21 tackles, including seven solo stops.
Semifinalists for the Wuerffel Trophy will be announced November 1, and finalists will be announced on November 22.
The formal announcement of the 2022 recipient will be made on December 8, and the presentation of the 2022 Wuerffel Trophy will occur on February 24, 2023.
Oklahoma State is scheduled to open the 2022 season September 1 when it faces Central Michigan at Boone Pickens Stadium, with kickoff set for 6 p.m. CT on FS1.
