Cowboy Baseball’s Thompson Tabbed Academic All-American

AUSTIN, Texas – Oklahoma State's Jake Thompson is the fifth Academic All-American in Cowboy baseball history.
Thompson, a graduate student for the Cowboys this season, was named to the 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team as an outfielder.
Thompson's selection puts him in elite company as it marks just the sixth time in OSU baseball history the Cowboys have had an Academic All-American. In 1976, Rick Embree was the first to achieve the honor when he was a first-team selection, and Brad Beanblossom was a first-team honoree in 1988 and 1989. Josh Holliday was named to the third team in 1999, and Carlos Gautreaux made the second team in 2000.
In his final season with the Cowboys, Thompson ranks in the top 10 in the Big 12 Conference in nine offensive categories. The All-Big 12 First Team performer was the only player to start all 64 games for OSU this season and led the team with a .350 batting average, 20 doubles, 67 RBIs and a .610 slugging percentage.
A two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team honoree, Thompson graduated with a degree in university studies in 2021 and is currently working towards a graduate degree in leisure studies.
