May 09, 2022 | Cowboy Wrestling
STILLWATER - While his fellow graduates were walking the stage in Gallagher-Iba Arena during Oklahoma State's graduation weekend, Daton Fix dominated a three-match round robin at the Pan-Am Championships in Acapulco, Mexico, on his way to a gold medal.Â
Fix looked the part of the world silver medalist at 61 kg needing only three minutes and 59 seconds to end his three bouts at the tournament. It marks the second time Fix has taken home gold from the Pan-Am Championships after doing so in 2019 at 57 kg.Â
His first two bouts ended in first period technical falls as he defeated Puerto Rico's Joseph Silva, 11-0, in two minutes and 20 seconds, and Mexico's Pedro Flores Salazar, 10-0, in 59 seconds. It only got more impressive from there as he pinned Logan Sloan of Canada in 40 seconds after getting out to a 10-0 lead.Â
Fix's next action will be at Final X Stillwater on June 3 as he looks to defend his spot on the U.S. World Team. His opponent will be the winner of the World Team Trials taking place on May 21-22.
