May 06, 2022 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State outdoor track & field completed its regular season on Friday at the Arkansas Twilight in Fayetteville, Ark.
Ben Calusinski, Grant Wilcox and Wyatt Landis kicked off the running events for the Cowboys in the men's 3,000 Meters. The trio swept the podium, with each finishing at least 32 seconds ahead of the rest of the field.
Following the impressive opening in the 3K, Will Muirhead and Victor Shitsama each put themselves in regional qualifying contention with their performances in the 3,000 Meter Steeplechase. Muirhead shattered his previous personal best by over 15 seconds with his time of 8:49.03. Shitsama also set a new PR with his second-place time of 8:49.60. The Cowboy duo currently sit 29th and 33rd in the West Region, respectively, with just conference weekend remaining.
The podium was once again filled with orange in the women's 3,000 Meter Steeplechase. Molly Humes, Natalia Cleveland, Emily Forster and Amelia Jauregui swept the top four places on the podium, all setting new personal bests in the process.
Blair Anderson continues his impressive true freshman season for the Cowboys in the Long Jump, setting an outdoor personal best in every meet he's competed in thus far in an OSU uniform. Anderson jumped a wind-legal 7.32 meters on Friday after jumping 7.52 meters in windy conditions two weeks ago at the John Jacobs Invitational.
Fouad Messaoudi put down perhaps the most impressive performance of the day in the final event of the competition for the Cowboys. Messaoudi broke the Meet Record with his personal-best time of 3:39.07 in the 1,500 Meters, which puts him seventh in program history and second in the Big 12 in the event, behind teammate Ryan Schoppe.
Right behind was another trio of Cowboys as Kian Davis, Alex Stitt (unattached) and Isaiah Priddey all set new personal records in the 1,500 Meters with their second, third and fourth-place finishes overall. Davis and Priddey currently sit eighth and ninth in the conference, respectively, after Friday's competition.
The final event of the night for OSU was all Cowgirls, as Maddie Salek, Heidi Demeo, Krystal Rodriguez, Colleen Stegmann, Clarissa Morales, Kennadi Price and Zoie Kiddy took the top seven spots in the women's 1,500 Meters, with all seven earning new PRs in dominant fashion.
Meanwhile, at the Shocker Open in Wichita, Kan., Johnna Orange shattered her previous-best throw of 47.64 meters with a 52.65 meter throw in the women's Hammer Throw, giving her a third-place finish in the event and the eighth-longest throw in Cowgirl history.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls return next weekend as they travel to Lubbock, Texas, for the Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championships. There they will look to improve upon last season's eighth and fourth-place finishes at the Big 12 Championships.
