Maxwell Shines, Cowgirls Defeat Clemson In Game One Of NCAA Super Regionals

STILLWATER – Kelly Maxwell pitched a complete-game shutout to help the No. 7 national seed Oklahoma State softball team defeat No. 10 national seed Clemson, 2-0, in game one of the NCAA Stillwater Super Regional on Thursday at Cowgirl Stadium.
With the win, OSU improved to 45-12 and claimed the first game of the best-of-three series against Clemson.
Maxwell (19-4) punched out 13 batters in seven innings; she and the Cowgirl defense combined for four three-up-three-down innings. Tonight's win is the 40th of her career, moving her to 7th in all time.
Maxwell's shutout was her 11th of the year, the Cowgirls' 17th as a team on the season and the third Super Regional shutout by a Cowgirl pitcher.
Chyenne Factor broke the scoreless tie in the fifth inning on a two-RBI single up the middle, scoring Brianna Evans and Chelsea Alexander. Factor went 2-for-2 with a double and a walk.
Up next, the Cowgirls look to advance to the Women's College World Series with a win tomorrow at 8 p.m. CT.
