OSU's Most Impressive Streaks: 10 Home Wins In-a-Row
May 26, 2022 | Cowboy Football
After starting the 2022 season, 1-2 with losses to Louisiana Tech and UCLA, Les Miles and the Cowboys found success in Boone Pickens Stadium that led them to an 8-5 season and win in the Houston Bowl.
From Sept. 21, 2002, to Nov. 8, 2003, Oklahoma State would go unbeaten in home games, marking the longest home win streak in program history. Starting with a 52-16 victory over SMU, the streak consisted of six conference wins, four 50-point outings and two ranked wins. The biggest win over the 10-game stretch came in Bedlam of 2002 when an unranked OSU team pulled off a 38-28 upset over No. 3 Oklahoma.
After making it over a full calendar year without suffering a defeat inside Boone Pickens Stadium, the streak ended when No. 11 Texas came to town and defeated No. 21 OSU, 55-16.
There have been home win streaks fall just short of the double-digit mark in the mid-1980s and early 2010s. Pat Jones began his head coaching tenure with a nine-game win streak at home, while Mike Gundy's 2012 and 2013 squads combined for nine in-a-row as well. Outside of one loss to Texas in 2012 and a loss to Oklahoma to close out the 2013 regular season, OSU won 17 out of 19 games in Stillwater from 2011-13.
The Pokes are on the verge of topping the 10-game win streak as the current streak is at eight games heading into the 2022 season. The Cowboys defeated Texas Tech, 50-44, in the home finale of 2020 before going undefeated in seven games at home last season. Oklahoma State begins the season with three home games against Central Michigan, Arizona State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff before getting into conference play in October.
