Cowgirl Softball Run Rules Fordham In Game Two Of Stillwater Regional

STILLWATER – Julia Cottrill blasted her second grand slam of the season en route to a 12-0 Oklahoma State softball run-rule victory over Fordham on Friday at Cowgirl Stadium.
With the win, the Cowgirls improved to 42-12 and advanced to game three of the Stillwater Regional.
The Pokes' 12 runs on the night was their most in an NCAA postseason contest since scoring 13 against Tulsa on May 17, 2019 and the. The 12-run margin of victory was the Cowgirls' second largest in NCAA postseason play. It was the most runs allowed by Fordham in 2022.
Kelly Maxwell got the win, improving to 17-4. She allowed no runs on two hits and struck out 10 batters in 5 innings.
The Cowgirls finished with 10 hits, the 20th double-digit hit game of the year. In keeping the Rams scoreless, the Cowgirls tallied their 16th shutout on the season.
With the bases loaded in the second inning, Chyenne Factor singled into center field, scoring two. Katelynn Carwile followed with a double to left center, bringing home another OSU run.
After Taylor Tuck bunted two runners over in the third, Karli Petty grounded out to second, scoring Sydney Pennington. With runners on first and third, the Cowgirls plated another run when Kiley Naomi stole second base, drawing a throw, allowing Hayley Busby to steal home for another score. Chelsea Alexander singled on a bunt and forced a throwing error which allowed Naomi to score from second.
Katelynn Carwile hit her seventh home run of the year in the fourth inning, adding the seventh OSU run to the board. Tuck drove in another on an RBI groundout to second.
Later in the same inning, Julia Cottrill put four runs on the board with one swing of the bat as she sent her 11th home run over the fence in right field. The grand slam – her 11th homer of the year – gave her sole possession of the team lead in home runs.
Oklahoma State takes on Big 10 champion No. 25/25 Nebraska tomorrow at 1 p.m. CT at Cowgirl Stadium.
