STILLWATER — Three different Cowgirls scored two goals as Oklahoma State cruised to an 8-2 win over Abilene Christian in a spring exhibition match Saturday at Neal Patterson Stadium.
Samiah Phiri, Hayley Ledford and Olyvia Dowell each recorded a brace for the Cowgirls, who improved to 4-0 on the spring season.
The Cowgirls had numerous chances within the first 20 minutes of the game, but Logan Heausler was the first goal scorer for OSU after she coolly slid her shot past the ACU goalkeeper to put OSU up 1-0. It didn't take long for OSU to extend its lead to two when Phiri scored seconds later after firing a shot into the back of the net.
The Cowgirls would add two more before the break, thanks to goals from Dowell and Ledford. With that, OSU went into the half up 4-0.
Shortly after the second half started, Abilene Christian pulled one back to make the game 4-1. However, the Cowgirls would come storming back and added two goals within the first 20 minutes of the half. Grace Yochum got on the scoresheet for the Cowgirls after a great pass from Dowell to put it at 5-1, and Dowell then got her second of the match a few minutes later.
OSU wasn't done yet as the Cowgirls fired two more into the back of the net, with Ledford and Phiri each adding goals to put the Cowgirls up 8-1.
ACU was able to get their second score of the match with one second remaining, and the game ended 8-2.
The Cowgirls will conclude the spring exhibition season against North Texas on Sunday, April 10, at Neal Patterson Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
