Cowboys Third Through 36 At Thunderbird

Day 1 Results
PHOENIX – Oklahoma State's men's golf team posted a 16-under total of 552 on Friday during the first day of action at the Thunderbird Invitational to stand in third place at Papago Golf Course.
Tournament host Arizona State posted a 549 total to lead Oklahoma by two shots at the par-71, 7,317-yard layout. The Cowboys opened with a 279 during their morning round before posting their 11-under afternoon score of 273.
Arizona State's Jose Luis Ballester posted a 10-under 132 to lead the individual race.
OSU's Aman Gupta posted scores of 69 and 65 to stand two shots back and in fourth place at 134. The senior's 6-under tally during the afternoon came via a bogey-free front nine which featured birdies at the first, third, fifth and seventh. On his back nine, Gupta sandwiched a bogey at the 11th with birdies at Nos. 10 and 12. He added birdies at Nos. 14 and 15.
Classmate Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen joined Gupta in the top 10, posting scores of 67 and 70 to share sixth place at 137.
After opening with a 72, senior Eugenio Chacarra followed with a 69 to finish at 141 and tied for 22nd place.
Junior Brian Stark carded a pair of 71s to finish at 142 and tied for 28th, while sophomore Bo Jin bounced back from an opening 74 with a 69 to stand at 143 and tied for 36th place.
A quartet of Cowboys are competing individually with junior Dillon Stewart and senior Leo Oyo leading the way. Stewart posted rounds of 71 and 69 to finish the day tied for 18th place at 140.
Oyo got to his 140 tally with rounds of 72 and 68.
Sophomore Jonas Baumgartner followed an opening 73 with a 68 to stand at 141 and tied for 22nd place.
Junior Rayhan Thomas carded back-to-back 72s for his 144 total, tying him for 43rd place.
