Spring Preview: Wide Receivers
April 12, 2022 | Cowboy Football
With spring football practice underway at Oklahoma State, okstate.com is taking a look at the status of every position group to break down the personnel and how things look heading into the 2022 season. Next up, the Cowboy wide receivers:
OSU will have to replace its top playmaker at wideout as Tay Martin moves on to the next level, but there are several candidates for more production as a young corps saw plenty of time in 2021.
Junior Brennan Presley is the star of the returning group after recording 50 catches for 619 yards and five touchdowns last season, with each of those numbers far exceeding any other returning player from last season.
The only other returning upper classman with significant experience is super senior Braydon Johnson, who looks to bounce back after missing every game but the season opener last season. His 36 games and 748 receiving yards rank as the most on the 2022 spring roster, and his return could provide a valuable veteran's presence.
The bulk of the group is made up of players who made several starts as freshmen in 2021, including Jaden Bray, John Paul Richardson, Bryson Green and Rashod Owens.
Redshirt junior Langston Anderson is back in the fold after missing multiple years with injuries, and highly-touted freshman Talyn Shettron is enrolled early to practice this spring as well.
OSU's eight walk-ons at receiver this spring will also provide depth.
