Cowgirl Softball Routs Tulsa, 10-0
March 30, 2022 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER – The No. 6 Oklahoma State softball team was dominant in a 10-0 run-rule victory over Tulsa at Cowgirl Stadium on Wednesday.
The Cowgirls extended their win streak to eight games, improving to 24-6 on the year.
Morgan Day (6-2) recorded the win, allowing no runs on two hits in three innings. Miranda Elish and Kelly Maxwell logged one relief inning apiece to finalize the shutout.
Sydney Pennington blew the game wide open when she hit the first grand slam of her career in the fifth inning. The blast was the centerpiece of her five-RBI performance in the game.
"I thought we took some deep at bats," head coach Kenny Gajewski said. "We made their starter work, she's a good pitcher and we made her work."
In the first inning, Pennington walked in the first run of the game. Karli Petty recorded a two RBI single to right, followed by a Tulsa error leading to another Oklahoma State run.
Chelsea Alexander recorded an RBI on a hit by pitch in the third inning.
The Cowgirls pieced together a five-run fourth inning to effectively shut down the Golden Hurricane in a five-inning run rule. Miranda Elish singled through the left side, scoring one run. It was her 11th consecutive game reaching base, which is the longest active streak on the team.
