Cowgirls Come Up Just Short In Second Round of Bedlam

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State's women's basketball team suffered its third consecutive single-digit loss on Wednesday with its 79-76 loss to Oklahoma in front of 2,450 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
The Cowgirls fell behind early as the Sooners ran out to a 23-12 lead after the first quarter.
However, OSU erupted for a 30-point stanza in the second, outscoring OU by 17 to take a six-point lead at the break. The Cowgirls closed the half on a 12-1 run while holding the Sooners to a 1-of-9 effort from the field to close the period.
OU opened the third period on a 14-2 run before the Cowgirls scratched back after seeing the deficit grow to 10 with 3:39 left. OSU would use an 8-0 run to get with two with 1:25 on the clock before ultimately trailing 60-57 heading into the final frame.
The Cowgirls would use a 6-0 run to tie the score at 63 apiece two and a half minutes into the fourth. A Lexy Keys' 3-pointer with five minutes left put OSU in front, 69-66, before the Sooners answered with consecutive treys.
OU led by five with two minutes to go before the Cowgirls scored the next four of the game to get within one with 13 seconds remaining. After a pair of Sooner free throws, the Cowgirls missed a pair of 3-point attempts in the game's closing seconds in their attempt to force overtime.
Keys finished with 20 points, including five 3-pointers, while senior Kassidy De Lapp added 18 points, nine rebounds, four assists and four steals.
