AMES, IOWA – The Oklahoma State men's and women's indoor track & field teams travel to Ames, Iowa, for the Big 12 Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday and Saturday in the Lied Recreation Center.
Both the Cowboys and Cowgirls are coming off a successful regular season in which seven school records were broken in six different events, with the men's 3,000 Meter run being broken twice by Alex Maier and Ryan Schoppe.
The Cowboys enter the conference meet ranked fourth in the Big 12 in the Track & Field Rating Index (TFRI) with fifteen individuals currently ranked in scoring position (top eight) in their respective events.
The men's Distance Medley Relay team remains at the top of the conference and is currently fifth nationally after shattering the school record with a time of 9:22.70. Fouad Messaoudi, Justin Smith, Juan Diego-Castro and Ryan Schoppe's time also ranks seventh on the NCAA all-time list in the event.
Meanwhile, the Cowgirls enter the Big 12 Championships ranked third in the conference and 21st nationally with several Cowgirls in position to move on to the national championships in Birmingham, Ala., in two weeks.

Championship events will begin with the 60-meter hurdles as part of the women's pentathlon at 10 a.m. Friday, while the men's 4x400-meter relay will close out competition at 5:25 p.m. Saturday.
