Cowboy Baseball Mourns Loss Of Roy Peterson

STILLWATER – Former Oklahoma State pitcher Roy Peterson passed away last week at the age of 84.
Peterson, a right-handed pitcher, was a three-year letterwinner for the Cowboys who turned in a career 17-5 record and 2.10 ERA to go along with 13 complete games, a total that ranks 10th on OSU's all-time list.
As a senior on OSU's 1959 NCAA championship team, Peterson led the club with a 1.42 ERA and 88 2/3 innings pitched.
The right-hander posted a 9-2 record with six complete games during that championship season and tallied 64 strikeouts. He also turned in a .289 batting average and drove in four runs.
At the College World Series, Peterson recorded a pair of wins, including a complete game victory against Fresno State, and also went 4-for-8 with two RBIs at the plate.
A memorial service for Peterson will be held Saturday, Feb. 5, at Moore's Southlawn Chapel in Tulsa.
