After snagging his 22nd steal of the season on the first defensive possession of the game, Avery Anderson III scored the first two points for the Cowboys at the free-throw line.

Oklahoma State took a 10-0 lead on the Shockers, scoring on five of its first seven possessions of the game, while forcing Wichita St. to miss its first five attempts from the field.

The Cowboys suffocating defense held the Shockers scoreless for more than four minutes late in the half, while the offense found its rhythm from three-point range, going on a 9-0 run to take a 30-17 lead with 4:00 remaining in the half.

Wichita St. ended the first half on a 7-0 run, but the Cowboys maintained a 32-26 lead heading into the halftime break.

John-Michael Wright started the second-half scoring for the Cowboys with a deep three-pointer to give OSU a seven-point lead.

A 7-0 run at the 10:32 mark gave the Cowboys their largest lead of the game at 50-36 behind Wright's eight second-half points.Â

OSU remained in control thanks to its suffocating defense, forcing Wichita St. to miss its first six three-pointers of the second half. The Cowboys took a 53-44 lead into the final media timeout at the 2:16 mark.

Head coach Mike Boynton has stayed with the same starting-five in all eleven games this season, going with Avery Anderson III, Bryce Thompson, John-Michael Wright, Kalib Boone and Moussa Cisse.

The Cowboys continue to rely on their defense, holding Wichita St. to just 26 first-half points, the fifth lowest total in any half this season for the Shockers.

The defense got even better in the second half, allowing only 23 points, the third lowest the Shockers have scored in any half.

John-Michael Wright exploded on the offensive end, tying his previous season-high with 16 points on 5-10 shooting, including four three-point field goals.

Bryce Thompson kept up his scoring ways against the Shockers, scoring a season-high 19 points, while also setting a new career-high with five three-pointers. Thompson has made at least four three-pointers in three games this season.

Chris Harris Jr. was a key play maker for the Cowboys on Saturday, posting a career-high five assists.

Moussa Cisse continues to use his size to grab boards and block shots at a furious rate. The Big 12's leading rebounder and shot-blocker recorded 12 rebounds and three blocks on Saturday.

Avery Anderson III recorded four steals against the Shockers on Saturday. Anderson has upped his defensive prowess this season, averaging a career-high 2.1 steals per game, which ranks fifth in the Big 12.
