Fischer Named Oklahoma Sports Hall Of Fame Class Of 2023 Inductee
December 16, 2022 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER – The winningest coach in Oklahoma State softball history is one of six to be inducted into the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2023.
As the longest tenured head coach in program history, Sandy Fischer has long been recognized as a trailblazer in the establishment of college softball as a sport rising in popularity with each passing year.
Fischer's accomplishments in 23 years as the head coach at Oklahoma State, along with her influence on the game of softball at the national level, elevate her among some of the most highly respected in the history of the sport.
She led the Cowgirls to 17 appearances in either the AIAW or NCAA Division I Regionals. Her teams advanced to either the AIAW Nationals or NCAA Women's College World Series nine times, finishing as high as fourth in 1998.
The four-time Big Eight Conference Coach of the Year compiled 901 wins at OSU, coached the Cowgirls to 15 Big Eight Conference championships – nine regular season titles and six conference tournament trophies – and coached 28 All-Americans.
Fischer has also been inducted into the Western Illinois University Hall of Fame – her alma mater – where she played from 1971-1975, as well as the Oklahoma State Athletics Hall of Honor.
