Kalib Boone started the scoring with a beautiful post-move to give the Pokes the 2-0 lead on the first possession of the game. Boone has scored the first points for the Cowboys in five of the first ten games.

The Cowboys' defense held Virginia Tech to 2-of-6 shooting from the field and forced two turnovers, but trailed 5-2 heading into the first media timeout.

Back-to-back threes from Caleb Asberry tied the game at 12 with 12:00 remaining in the first half. Kalib Boone started the game 3-for-3 from the field to give him and Asberry all 12 of the Cowboys' points.

Four-straight made field goals and an 8-2 run got the Cowboys back within six after being down 12 in the first half. Kalib Boone continued to dominate in the paint, scoring ten points on 5-of-5 shooting.

The Cowboys struggled to get the offense flowing in the first half, trailing 34-25 at the halftime break.

OSU came out of the break on fire, scoring on its first five possessions of the second half, including three three-pointers from leading scorer Avery Anderson III, to bring the Cowboys within one point.

An and-1 in transition from Moussa Cisse extended the run to 14-to-1 to give the Cowboys the 40-38 lead, their first lead since being up 2-0 on the first possession of the game.

The Cowboys' defense dominated early in the second half, forcing Virginia Tech to miss 11 of its first 13 shots in the half. That defense allowed OSU to grab a 46-42 lead with 11:25 remaining in the contest.

A thunderous dunk from Kalib Boone tied the game at 51 with just under seven minutes to play.

A quick four points out of a timeout for the Cowboys tied the game once again at 58 with 3:00 to play.

A late three from John-Michael Wright kept things interesting, but ultimately wasn't enough as the Hokies left the Barclays Center with a 70-65 win.Â

Head coach Mike Boynton has stayed with the same starting-five in all ten games this season, going with Avery Anderson III, Bryce Thompson, John-Michael Wright, Kalib Boone and Moussa Cisse.

After a scoreless first half, Avery Anderson III showed his importance to the Cowboys success, scoring 15 second-half points to lead the Cowboys.

With four blocks on Sunday, Kalib Boone moved into 9th all-time in blocks in school history. Boone passed Mitchell Solomon and Markel Brown in the record books. Boone's four blocks are a season-high, and improve his season total to ten.

Avery Anderson III recorded three steals against the Hokies, moving past Doug Gottlieb and Keiton Page and into 15th place in school history with 145 career steals.
