Cowgirls Handle Missouri State, 73-54, For First Road Victory

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Oklahoma State's women's basketball team picked up its first road win of the year on Thursday evening, knocking off Missouri State, 73-54, in front of 2,002 fans inside Great Southern Bank Arena.
With the win, the Cowgirls improved to 4-0 on the year, while the Lady Bears dipped to 1-2.
Fifth year Naomie Alnatas led all scorers with 28 points, connecting on 11 of her 18 shots attempts, while Taylen Collins joined her in double figures with 11 points of her own. The junior also added six rebounds and four steals.
The contest marked the fourth consecutive outing OSU's balanced scoring attack has seen 10 players find the scoring column.
In the first, OSU got the first of the half's several runs, using a 10-0 spurt to lead 10-2 four minutes into the contest. The Lady Bears would get within one at 10-9 before OSU extended its lead to 22-11 with a minute left in the frame.
The Lady Bears cut the margin to two at the 7:06 mark of the second quarter at 25-23 before the Cowgirls used a 12-2 spurt over the next four minutes to stretch the lead back to double figures. OSU would take a 40-31 lead into the halftime locker room.
Four and a half minutes into the third, Alnatas drilled one of her five 3-pointers on the night to extend the OSU margin to 53-39. Alnatas would close the quarter with a buzzer-beating layup to give the Cowgirls a 59-43 advantage heading into the fourth.
Another Alnatas 3-pointer three minutes into the final stanza grew the lead to 19.
