Series History: Oklahoma State Looks to Continue Winning Streak Against Kansas State
October 27, 2022 | Cowboy Football
The Oklahoma State football team heads back on the road to face No. 22 Kansas State in Manhattan at Bill Snyder Family Stadium on Saturday.
For the third week in a row and fourth time in five games, the Cowboys face off against an opponent ranked in the AP Top 25.
Saturday's matchup will be the 69th overall between the Cowboys and the Wildcats in a series that dates to 1908, making Kansas State OSU's second longest tenured rival behind Oklahoma. This will also mark the 13th consecutive year the teams have played. OSU holds a 42-26 all-time advantage in the series, including a 19-17 record in games played in Manhattan.
The Cowboys have had control of the series in recent years, with wins in nine of the past 13 games against the Wildcats. OSU has a three-game winning streak against KSU, that includes a road victory in Manhattan during the 2020 season. The Cowboy's won last year's matchup in Boone Pickens Stadium, 31-20, behind the arm of quarterback Spencer Sanders, who threw for 344 yards. OSU put up all 31 points in the first half and closed out the game behind a strong defensive outing. Running back Jaylen Warren accounted for 204 total yards of offense, that included a 52-yard reception on OSU's first play from scrimmage.
Kansas State enters the game with a 5-2 overall record and is tied with Oklahoma State at 3-1 in conference play. The Cowboys are ranked No. 9 in the country at 6-1 and coming off a 41-34 win against Texas that saw the Pokes rally from a double-digit deficit to cap off the university's Homecoming week.
Coach Mike Gundy is 9-5 in his career against K-State, while KSU coach Chris Klieman is 0-3 against OSU. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. and will be televised on FOX.
