Headlights on Home Turf: Jabbar Muhammad Has Sights Set on TCU, Family Reunion in Fort Worth
October 14, 2022 | Cowboy Football
Jabbar Muhhamad has been asking his teammates for tickets all week.
As the No. 8 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys head down to Fort Worth, Texas, on Saturday to face the No. 13 TCU Horned Frogs, conference bragging rights will be on the line.
But, for Cowboys cornerback Jabbar Muhhamad, there's more in store for the Oct. 15 clash – a return home.
As a graduate of DeSoto High School in DeSoto, Texas, Muhhamad posted a prolific high-school career earning First Team All-District cornerback as a junior, Defensive MVP honors at The Opening combine in Dallas and a spot on the school's track and field team.
While Muhhamad joined the Cowboy family in 2020, he left behind in-state offers from the likes of Houston, North Texas and Texas Tech. However, his friends and family are still strongly supporting him in Texas.
"Me being four hours away from Dallas, Texas, in Stillwater, a lot of them [family and friends] can't come to the games," Muhammad said. "TCU is like 35 minutes from my house, so having my support system being able to come see me means a lot."
In preparation for Muhammad's return to the Lone Star State, he's put his negotiating hat on. While Muhammad, as well as all other players on the Cowboy roster, receive an allotment of tickets for each, he's unsure if he'll have enough for his expected crowd.
"I have a lot of family trying to come,'' Muhammad said. "I've asked just about everybody [for tickets.] Everybody has been asking for them. Everybody has been using them. I'm late to the party."
The official party between Oklahoma State and TCU is slated to commence at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday. Upon kickoff, Muhammad will be swapping out his negotiator hat for a helmet, primed for four quarters of action fresh off netting a career-high three pass breakups in last week's victory versus Texas Tech.
