17 Years Of Raising The Bar: The Numbers Behind The Mike Gundy Era

It's been 17 years of raising the bar for Mike Gundy and Oklahoma State football, and the 2021 season was just the latest example. Not only did the Cowboys post just the second 12-win season in school history, but OSU capped it off with a win over No. 5 Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl.

- The Cowboys have won 14 of their last 16 games overall under Mike Gundy.
- Oklahoma State is 15-6 in their last 21 games against Associated Press Top-25 opponents, including five wins in 2021. OSU defeated a trio of 11-win teams in 2021 as well.
- OSU has finished in the top three of the Big 12 in three straight seasons and has finished in the top three nine times in the 11 seasons since the conference moved to a full round robin schedule in 2011.
- Since 2010, Oklahoma State has seven seasons with at least 10 wins, an outright Big 12 title (2011) and a share of the Big 12 South title (2010). OSU reached the top 10 of the Associated Press poll in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2020 and 2021.
- Gundy has coached the Cowboys to five New Year's Six bowl games since 2010. The Pokes appeared in the 2010 Cotton Bowl, the 2012 Fiesta Bowl, the 2014 Cotton Bowl, the 2016 Sugar Bowl and the 2022 Fiesta Bowl.
- Oklahoma State is one of only six teams to post a winning season every year from 2010-21, joining Alabama, Boise State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Wisconsin. It is one of only three Power Five teams with winning seasons each of the past 16 years, joined by Wisconsin and Oklahoma.
- Including the 2021 season, Oklahoma State has been ranked in the top 15 of the Associated Press poll in 12 of the past 14 seasons and reached the top 10 in 10 of those 14 years.
- OSU has seven total selections to the CoSIDA Academic All-America team since 2016, tying Stanford for the most among Power Five schools during that timeframe.
- Mike Gundy has won 149 games at Oklahoma State – the fourth most of any active coach at their current school.
- Since 2017, Gundy has coached the FBS leading passer (Mason Rudolph in 2017), leading receiver (James Washington in 2017) and leading rusher (Chuba Hubbard in 2019).
- Mike Gundy's players have earned All-America honors 27 times since 2008.
- Since 2010, Mike Gundy has led OSU to seven seasons with at least 10 wins. The only active coaches with more 10-win seasons in that time frame are Alabama's Nick Saban (12) and Clemson's Dabo Swinney (10).
- Mike Gundy has won 36 games vs. AP Top 25 opponents. Nick Saban and Dabo Swinney are the only other active coaches with more wins over AP Top 25 teams at their current schools.
- Mike Gundy's stretch of 16 consecutive bowl seasons is the longest active streak for any FBS coach at one school.
