January 01, 2022 | Cowgirl Soccer
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State star Kim Rodriguez has inked her first professional contract, signing with Mexico City's Club América Femenil.
Rodriguez completed an All-American career for the Cowgirls in 2021, and the defender will begin her professional career this month with Club América, one of 18 teams in Liga BBVA MX Femenil, the highest division of women's soccer in Mexico.
"Playing professional soccer is something I've dreamed about for a long time, and I'm excited for this opportunity to start my career in Mexico," Rodriguez said. "My experience at Oklahoma State over the last five years helped me grow as a player and person and prepared me for this next step. I'll always have a lot of great memories from the time with my coaches and teammates in Stillwater."
In her storied OSU career, Rodriguez played in 90 games, 88 of those as a starter, and recorded 10 goals and 25 assists. The Porter, Texas native ranks third all time in program history in assists.
In 2019, Rodriguez became the fifth All-American in Cowgirl Soccer history as she earned second-team honors from the United Soccer Coaches, an achievement she repeated in 2020. She was a three-time All-Big 12 selection, twice earning first-team accolades.
Rodriguez joined the Mexico National Team in February 2020 and earned her first-career cap as a starter against Italy at the 2020 Cyprus Women's Cup.
