Cowgirl Softball Drops USAO, 22-0

STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State softball team was a 22-0 winner over the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in a 10-inning exhibition played in Cowgirl Stadium Wednesday.

The Cowgirl trio of Tatum Clopton, Kelly Maxwell and Morgan Day was dominant in the circle. Clopton started and struck out three in three innings of work before she gave way to Maxwell, who fanned six and held USAO hitless in three innings. Day pitched the final four innings for OSU and struck out 12.

The Cowgirls were equally dominant at the plate, scoring four runs in the first inning on the strength of a three-run home run from Karli Petty and then adding seven more runs in the third inning to put the game out of reach.

On the day, the Cowgirls totaled 22 runs on 22 hits and no errors; they blanked the Drovers and gave up only three runs in front of a sizable fall crowd.

OSU returns to action when it travels to Tulsa on October 6.
