Cowboys Lead At Olympia Fields

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – Oklahoma State's men's golf team opened play on Friday at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational with a 281 to stand atop the leaderboard at Olympia Fields Country Club.
The Cowboys, who earlier in the day were tabbed as the No. 1 team in the country according to the Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll, finished at 1-over for the day and two shots clear of North Carolina and Indiana at the par-70, 7,310-yard layout.
Indiana's Drew Salyers and North Carolina's David Ford each posted 2-under 68s to lead the individual race.
OSU's Brian Stark was among the group to finish tied for third after signing for an opening 69. The junior opened with four consecutive pars before posting bogeys at the sixth and the seventh. However, he would rally with a birdie at the ninth before adding two more birdies as part of a bogey-free second nine to end the day under par.
Stark was joined in the top 10 by senior Leo Oyo, who posted an even-par 70 to share eighth place.
Senior Eugenio Chacarra and sophomore Jonas Baumgartner each carded 71s during their first rounds to finish the day tied for 13th place.
Sophomore Bo Jin signed for a 76 to finish in a tie for 61st place.
