Gundy Surprised During Media Availability On His Birthday

STILLWATER - Oklahoma State head football coach Mike Gundy met with the media on the morning of his 54th birthday before being interrupted by a group of Cowboy football players who stormed into media availability with a birthday cake.
"I was telling a couple of the girls videoing it's been 41 years since I've had a birthday that I wasn't at practice," Gundy said. "I started in seventh-grade football and it's been 41 years, which is a good thing."
The group of players, led by Spencer Sanders, Malcolm Rodriguez. Brennan Presley, Tre Sterling and Christian Holmes, sang "Happy Birthday" to their coach while giving him the cake. Gundy finished his availability before sticking around for a few minutes to offer the cake to the players and members of the media.
Thursday was the first day of full pads for the Cowboys, who have completed six of their 24 scheduled practices for fall training camp.
"We're doing really well with the guys who are out there," Gundy said. "We're getting a lot of reps. The guys are excited and we are excited. We have a long way to go but we're getting better each day."
