STILLWATER – Oklahoma State offensive lineman Josh Sills is one of 80 players on the 2021 Outland Trophy preseason watch list, announced Tuesday morning by the Football Writers Association of America.
Sills is also one of eight players from the Big 12 on the watchlist for the trophy, which is presented annually to the nation's top interior lineman on offense or defense.
A graduate transfer from West Virginia, Sills arrived in Stillwater last season and made an immediate impact. He played several positions in 2020 filling in for injuries along the offensive line as he started six games at left guard, one at left tackle and the final four games at right tackle.
His play last season earned him a first team All-Big 12 selection by the AP and honorable mention recognition by the league's coaches. He enters the 2021 season as the most experienced Cowboy on the roster having played in 38 career games with 35 of those being starts.
The Outland Trophy winner is chosen from three finalists who are a part of the FWAA All-America Team. The recipient of the trophy will be announced at The Home Depot College Football Awards in December and the official presentation will be made at the Outland Trophy Awards Dinner in Omaha, Nebraska, on Jan. 12, 2022.
The Cowboys are scheduled to the open the 2021 season on September 4, facing Missouri State at 6 p.m. CT at Boone Pickens Stadium. Fans can purchase 2021 Cowboy football season tickets by visiting okstate.com/tickets or by calling or texting 877-ALL-4-OSU.
