Stillwater Snapshot
· Hovland was twice named a first-team All-American and was tabbed as an All-Big 12 pick in each of his three seasons in Stillwater.
· In addition to helping the Cowboys to their 11th national championship in 2018, Hovland followed later that summer by becoming the fifth U.S. Amateur champion in program history.
· His junior campaign saw him win three times, earn the prestigious Ben Hogan Award as as the nation's top player and be named the Big 12 Player of the Year.
To The Viktor …
· It took Hovland just 12 starts on the PGA Tour to reach the winner's circle, with the Norwegian drilling a 30-foot putt at the 72nd hole to take the Puerto Rico Classic.
· Hovland's second PGA Tour win came at the Mayakoba Golf Classic last year in just his 35th career start. With his win, he became the fifth European player since World War II to win multiple TOUR titles before turning 24, joining Seve Ballesteros, Sergio Garcia, Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm.
· The Oslo native's first European Tour victory came this past June in his 17th start on Tour, a two-shot triumph at the BMW International Open in Germany.
Notable Norwegian
· Hovland has repeatedly made history for his native Norway, becoming the first Norwegian to win the U.S. Amateur, doing so at Pebble Beach in 2018 with OSU head coach Alan Bratton on the bag.
· He went on to become the first Norwegian to compete at The Masters in 2019, where he earned Low Amateur honors.
· His first PGA Tour win came at the 2020 Puerto Rico Open, making him the first Norwegian to win on Tour.
· This past summer, he won the BMW International Open to become the first Norwegian to win on the European Tour.
Going For Gold
In its history, Norway has captured 149 medals during the Summer Games. However, none of those have come in golf, opening the door for Hovland to carve his name further into the Norwegian history books.
For Country
Hovland competed for the International side at the 2017 and 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup. In 2017, he was joined by countryman and fellow Cowboy Kristoffer Ventura. He also competed at the 2016 and 2018 World Amateur Team Championships.
