Cowgirls Drop Game Two of WCWS

OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma State softball fell to 48-11 on the season with a 2-1 loss to James Madison on Friday night in its second game of the Women's College World Series.
Cowgirl ace Carrie Eberle (26-4) drew her second consecutive start at the WCWS. She pitched four innings and allowed just one earned run in the loss.
The Dukes jumped out to an early 2-0 lead through the first four innings. Oklahoma State finally broke through and put a run on the board in the fifth via a Chelsea Alexander RBI single that scored Reagan Wright from second.
Left-handed pitcher Kelly Maxwell came on in relief of Eberle in the fifth inning. With runners on first and second and no outs, Maxwell recorded three straight outs, two via the strikeout.
In her first six batters faced, Maxwell struck out five to hold the Dukes at bay late in the game.
The Cowgirls managed to get runners in scoring position in the seventh inning but were unable to push a run across and extend the game.
Oklahoma State is back in action tomorrow when they face the winner of the Arizona vs. Florida State game at 8:30 p.m. CT. The game is set to air on ESPN.
